The species Triatoma
infestans is more frequent in countries located
to the south of the Amazon like Brazil, Argentina,
Chile, Bolivia, Paraguay, and Ecuador. R. prolixus
can be found in Central America (Costa Rica, Nicaragua,
Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala) and in countries
of South America located to the north of the Amazon
like Colombia and Venezuela. T. dimidiata
can be found from Mexico to the north of Peru
and mainly in the pacific coast.
Since the vinchucas can be accidentally transported
by humans in backpacks, clothing, etc, the geographic
zones of the vinchucas can be expanded.
